Welcome to Langleybottom Pigs based near Crewkerne in the heart of Somerset
Langleybottom Pigs and Livestock
Langleybottom Pigs has been created through the breeding of high quality pedigree registered stock. All of our sows are from the Alison line and the boars are from Alexander and Clarence lines.
We primarily breed to produce stock for the show ring and for meat.
After each show season most of our show stock will be up for sale, so this is a great way to get your hands on some good quality pigs to grow your herd.
As well as show stock, we also have weaners available throughout the year. We tend to have both meat and registered weaners available. Meat weaners are a good way to allow you to create your own pork without having to worry about breeding.
Our stock boars are also available for boar hire. We know that when you only have a couple of sows then having your own boar is not necessarily the best thing for you or him. We therefore offer sows to come and visit our boars so that three months and three weeks later you can enjoy the pitter patter of many little pigs trotters.
Our products are produced and grown with care and respect…
Here at Langleybottom we pride ourselves on being hands on at every stage of our stock production, from looking after our stock pigs who produce the meat pigs, to rearing the meat pigs in a high welfare environment to the final production of a worthy product. We respect the carcass when it comes back and celebrate the life of each of our animals.
Our pedigree Oxford and Sandy black pigs are free to roam around 6 acres, are slow grown and non intensively farmed to produce a free-range quality of flavour.
Our kitchen freezers are stocked with a range of joints and we’re happy to butcher to our customer’s requests – please do get in touch with what you’d like and we’d be happy to help.

Langleybottom Sausages & Bacon
As well as our pork cuts we also offer a selection of products that have had further processing done.
Our dry cured bacon has become a favourite for us and many of our customers. We produce both back and streaky bacon, which can be sliced to customers preferred thickness. Our standard pack comes in five rashers but it can be packed down however customers require.
As well as our dry cured meat we also produce gammon through wet curing the pork legs. We can produce both gammon joints and gammon steaks. The joints we always find are a favourite when it comes to Christmas.
Our sausages are made using prime cuts of meat with no extra fat added. Our standard pack size is 6 sausages, however we are happy to produce any sized packs if ordered ahead of a butchery date. Sausagemeat and chipolatas are also available at Christmas time
Our sausage flavours are: Old English, Cumberland and Sweet Chilli, however we keep on testing new flavours so keep your eye out
Langleybottom Sheep & Eggs
As well as our growing number of pigs, we also have a herd of Dorset Down Sheep and a flock of chickens.
Our Dorset Downs are bred each year to produce lambs, which we rear for meat. Our lambs are slow grown and grass fed which results in a succulent carcass. Our lamb is available from the freezer most of the year.
We don’t like wasting anything from our animals, therefore we also sell our lovely double crimped thick Dorset Down sheepskins. We can also supply Dorset Down fleece for any budding spinner who may be interested.
We also have a readily available stream of eggs available. Our lovely corn fed girls produce nice sized eggs with a rich yolk. Our flock started off with Buff Orpingtons and Light Sussex. However now we pride ourselves on rescuing ex commercial chickens who we give a lovely life to and in return they provide us with numerous eggs and fantastic personalities.

Back in 2009, Langley saw its first pigs arrive who found themselves named Spot and Patch. The time Spot and Patch spent at Langley cemented our love of pigs, so when they went off to create the best pork we had ever tasted, we decided to embark on a breeding journey. Ginger and Pickles arrived and that is when the Langleybottom Herd of Oxford Sandy and Blacks was born.
Our first litter came in early 2011, which saw the birth of Annie who helped us to develop our knowledge of pigs. Having spent many years attending livestock and country shows, Clive decided that in his retirement he would swap the stress of the operating theatre for the buzz of the show ring! So in 2012 he packed his and Annie’s bags and arrived at the Bath and West Show. Despite the show being a steep learning curve, Clive and Annie came away with fourth place, and this is where our show careering started.
The Langleybottom Herd has grown and we now have Peppa, Doris, Bessie and Betty as our breeding sows, along with Annie who actually runs the place. All our sows have been born and reared at Langley and so they are all related to our original sows Ginger and Pickles. All our girls have visited the show ring and Doris and Bessie have also appeared on tv. We currently have two stock boars Bertie and Cedric who we have brought in to help with the gene lines.
We now spend the show season touring round with any eligible young pigs born from our numerous litters throughout the year. We also rear a number of pigs to produce some of the best pork we have ever tasted.
